The Building Management System (BMS) is a computer based advanced control building, which oversees and controls the electromechanical equipment of buildings, such as air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting, fire alarm and security systems. An integrated BMS, consists of equipment (HW) and software (SW).
Systems BMS, mainly used in large buildings. The main function of such systems is to manage the environment in the building and control parameters such as temperature, levels of carbon dioxide and moisture, ensuring perfect living and working conditions.
Another basic function common to most systems of BMS, is the control of air conditioning (cooling – heating) and management systems that channel the air in buildings (such as fan operation, open – closed airway) and the control of local combination of cooling and heating to the desired temperature in each room of the building.
A secondary function of a typical systems BMS, is the control and supervision of the level of the produced carbon dioxide (CO2), the outside air mixing with contaminated air inside the building, to increase the level of oxygen in air while reducing any heat loss.
